I like to make my lectures fun by telling silly stories.
私はちょっとおかしな話を交えながら、授業を楽しくするようにしているの。
Students learn better when they laugh.
笑いながらの方が、生徒はよく学べるのよ。
ザリ：
Oh, I love funny stories.
私も面白い話は大好きです。
Can you give me an example of one from your class?
授業で話した例を一つ教えてもらえますか？
キャロル：
Sure.

In one lecture, I told students about a traveler who smelled tuna and strawberries at the same time.
ある授業では、「ツナとイチゴの匂いを同時にかいだ旅行者」の話をしたの。
ザリ：
Tuna and strawberries?
ツナとイチゴですか？
That sounds like the sourest lunch ever.
今までで一番すっぱいランチみたいですね。
What was the result of the story?
その話はどうなったんですか？
キャロル：
The result was laughter.
教室中が笑いに包まれたわ。
It helped explain how meanings can change depending on the way the ingredients are written.

One student once said the smell of coconut made them homesick.
