Eddy is cooking dinner in his kitchen. Bea walks in.
エディはキッチンで夕食を作っています。そこへビーが入ってきました。
Bea: OK, Eddy, big night! Your date is in two hours. What are you making?
ビー：さあエディ、大事な夜だね！デートまであと2時間。何を作ってるの？
Eddy: Pasta with tomato sauce! Simple but good.
エディ：トマトソースのパスタだよ！シンプルだけどおいしいんだ。
Bea: Let me taste it.
ビー：ちょっと味見させて。
Bea tastes the sauce.
ビーはソースを味見します。
Bea: Eddy, this has like three ingredients. You can’t serve this to a woman you’re trying to impress.
ビー：エディ、これ材料が3つくらいしか入ってないじゃない。好きになってもらいたい相手に出す料理じゃないよ。
Eddy: But it tastes good! My mom’s recipe only has a few ingredients.
エディ：でもおいしいよ！母さんのレシピも材料は少ないんだ。
Bea: Move. I’m taking over.
ビー：どいて。私がやる。
Bea pushes Eddy away from the stove and starts adding ingredients to the sauce.
ビーはエディをコンロの前から押しのけ、ソースに次々と材料を加え始めました。
Bea: We need garlic, chili, olives, honey, lemon…
ビー：ニンニクに、唐辛子、オリーブ、ハチミツ、レモン……。
Eddy: Honey? In pasta sauce?
エディ：ハチミツ？パスタソースに？
Bea: Trust me, Eddy. I’ve eaten at the best restaurants in the city.
ビー：私を信じて、エディ。この街で一番いいレストランにも行ってるんだから。
Eddy: Eating food and making food are different things, Bea.
エディ：食べるのと作るのは別物だよ、ビー。
Bea: Just let me work.
ビー：とにかく任せて。
Bea adds more and more ingredients. After twenty minutes, she tastes the sauce.
ビーはさらに材料を加え続けます。20分後、もう一度ソースを味見しました。
Bea: Oh no.
ビー：しまった。
Eddy: What’s wrong?
エディ：どうしたの？
Bea: It tastes like… everything. And nothing. At the same time.
ビー：全部の味がするのに……何の味もしない。同時にね。
Eddy walks to the back of the kitchen and picks up a second pot.
エディはキッチンの奥へ行き、もう一つの鍋を持ってきました。
Eddy: That’s OK. I made another sauce. My mom’s recipe. Three ingredients.
エディ：大丈夫。もう一つソースを作っておいたんだ。母さんのレシピでね。材料は3つだけ。
Bea: Wait. You made a backup? When?!
ビー：えっ、予備まで作ってたの！？いつの間に？
Eddy: Before you came over. I know you always take control of things, Bea.
エディ：君が来る前だよ。ビーはいつも何でも仕切るって分かってたからね。
Bea stares at him.
ビーはエディをじっと見つめます。
Bea: You planned for this?! That’s… actually really smart, Eddy.
ビー：そこまで読んでたの！？……それ、実はすごく賢いね、エディ。
Eddy: See? Sometimes simple is the way to win.
エディ：ほらね。シンプルなのが一番うまくいくこともあるんだよ。
Bea: Fine. But I’m picking your shirt for the date. No arguments.
ビー：分かった。でもデートに着るシャツは私が選ぶからね。文句はなし。
Eddy: Deal!
エディ：決まり！
